Yes, there is a common denominator, albeit slightly less highbrow than
the other ones. And just to annoy purists, the phrasing (in the musical
sense) may be modified. Oh, and Googling... well, that must be cheating,
mustn't it? Each tune has a bonus question; one point for the title, one
for the artist, one for the bonus question. Oh, and one last bonus point
if you can spot the connection.
The questions may be mildly cryptic in some cases, and wildly unfair in
some.
1 - It's a rare condition, in this day and age
B: Name the actor playing the policeman. (By the way, this tune has
a really nice piano bit at the start.)
2 - Unafraid I can go where life leads me, somehow I know
B: Name the Dutch singer who did a cover CD of this artist's tunes.
3 - A matinee of some cantata, Wagner's
B: In which TV series did this artist appear as a mecia expert?
4 - Disco, you'll never even get me out
B: This tune featured in a famous boxer scene in the 80s. Which
actor starred in it?
5 - Crying sin, ride a painted pony
B: What is the connection to this month's first lyrics quiz?
6 - Man walks down a street, it's a street in a strange world
N: Which famous comedy actor featured in the music video?
7 - What I say may not happen the same way
B: Name the actress playing the title character of the TV show this
tune featured in.
8 - Muscle Shoals has got the
B: The what?
9 - The man wore eight hundred-dollar suits from Milan or Rome
B: This featured in a mimed scene on the West Wing. How did it get
into the script?
10 - 'Kay, I don't make films. But if they did they'd have a samurai.
B: Poultry is mentioned in this tune. What kind?
11 - It's only a party, you're welcome to come - what's the use of living...
B: Why is this line not as pessimistic as it sounds?
12 - Now you're the big winner of our million-dollar lottery
B: What do I call the tune when requesting it?
13 - Nothin' left to lose, nothin' don't mean
B: What word did Sara Löfgren's team get this tune on on Så Ska Det
Låta?
14 - Twenty years now - where'd they go? Twenty years - I don't know.
B: What car does the singer drive in the music video?
15 - I knew life before I left my nursery
B: Who sang this tune in Robert Wells' concert at the Royal Palace
in Stockholm?
16 - With their Sputniks and explorers
B: What is the original tune this comedy filk was set to?
17 - Hangin' out on Monday my Sunday dreams to dry
B: What his the singer drowning her regrets in?
18 - If you should ever want to be loved by anyone
B: How many aliens were in this tune's chorus line?
19 - Even shared the tears, you're the only one
B: Who did this singer sing this tune with on a Francophone version
of Fame Academy?
20 - Then things went bad - I met her Dad - he said
B: What did he say? Two options, one point for each.
For a final bonus point, how long did it take you to spot the deliberate
typo in the questions?
MAXIMUM SCORE: 63 or something.

Well, Eye Of The Tiger was, yes... but that wasn't Eye Of The Tiger. As
a hint, the next few words are "on the floor".

And of course it is highly unlikely that it was on that LP; I just
associate the style with that LP rather than his more popular
recordings, such as Stranger in Town -- the LP it's actually off.
However, Heavy Music was on SOP

You mean roadies? But yes, it is the Swampers. They were a session band,
though, not roadies.
So, folks, I'll post the answers tomorrow before I head off to the airport.

I don't make films, but if I did they'd have a samurai."
::looks up, notices that that was the clue line::
Doh.
Well, I like that line, anyway.
